Open-source software

  • SL (Spaceland Library) is a suite of C++ template classes that support geometric computation (specifically adapted to OpenGL). SL is mostly intended for computer graphics developers and it includes many different kind of algorithms (linear algebra methods, coding/decoding tecniques, generalized data structures, utilities).
    SL may be used under the terms of the GNU General Public License as published by the Free Software Foundation and appearing in the file LICENSE included in the software distribution. Installation instructions are in the file INSTALL.

  • BRAIN CRS4 ViC BRAIN is a software for 3D reconstruction and visualization of architectonic, neurophysiological and tract tracing data of primate cerebral cortex. The system takes as input data acquired by identifying contours and neuron positions on cryogenized brain sections and regards it as a three-dimensional environment to be interactively inspected.

  • RATMAN CRS4 ViC RATMAN is a real-time terrain rendering framework able to asynchronously access terrain information from remote servers. It consists of a preprocessing system, a high performance portable rendering library used as a rendering engine, and of a simple networked viewer integrated with many different data sources. The terrain rendering technology behind RATMAN is based on a compressed multiresolution representation based on the BDAM (Batched Dynamic Adaptive Meshes) continuous level-of-detail framework. The structure combines the aggressive compression rates of wavelet-based image representations with the ability to ensure overall geometric continuity for variable resolution views of planar and spherical terrains with no need for run-time stitching. In RATMAN, the implementation has been simplified to ensure execution even on very low-end graphics platforms. The system has been used for large-scale regional and national geoviewing projects.

  • SSVDAGS The CRS4 ViC SSVDAG library is an open source implementation of the Symmetry-aware Sparse Voxel DAGs (SSVDAGs) framework for compression-domain tracing of high-resolution geometric scenes. Included in the library is a simple voxelizer of triangulated surfaces, a compressor for transforming voxelized representation into SSVDAGs, and a real-time OpenGL raytracer rendering with shading and shadows large massive models converted in SSVDAG format.
